WPIG Cincinnati

When Hugh Wilson was given the green light to create a TV show based on WQXI in Atlanta, he wanted a more central setting for the fictitious WKRP. Cincinnati was chosen somewhat at random, as it seemed to flow naturally with the call letters. WKRP in Cincinnati went on to become one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, particularly the "Turkeys Away" episode with its famous final line. And while only parts of one episode were shot in the Tristate, the show is forever linked to the Queen City.

WPIG is mentioned often as the top station in the market and as WKRP's main competitor. We get to see the WPIG team, wearing their station logo shirts on the Season Two episode "Baseball," in which the two stations play softball.
