Tom Hume pitched for the Reds from 1977 to 1985. He became one of baseball's top relief pitchers halfway through the 1979 season, recording 15 saves with an ERA of 2.76. The following season he appeared in 62 games, recording 25 saves with an ERA of 2.56. After two years in Philadelphia, he returned to Cincinnati in 1987 for his final season.
