Pete Rose Ty Breaker

CINC-12442-S

On September 11, 1985, Pete Rose broke Ty Cobb's all-time record for most career hits. His teammates mobbed him at home plate, while then Reds owner Marge Schott presented him with a red Corvette, driven in from behind the outfield fence. The sellout crowd of 47,237 at Riverfront Stadium enthusiastically cheered, as Pete Rose wept. He waved to the fans and laid his head on first-base coach Tommy Helms' shoulder as he processed his historic feat.
