John Hauck Brewing

DTG-CN3530-1

The John Hauk Brewery was established in 1882 at the corner of Central Parkway (then Central Avenue) and Dayton Street. It made beer until Prohibition became law in 1919. After that it produced near beer and other non-alcoholic beverages but gradually leased more and more of its space to Red Top who were better positioned to produce such drinks. Even with the repeal of Prohibition, John Hauk Brewery did not return to producing beer as Red Top took over the company's assets.
