Havana Sugar Kings

The Havana Sugar Kings were a AAA minor league baseball team based in Cuba's capital from 1946 to 1960. They were members of the International League and their parent club was The Reds. Their home field was El Gran Estadio del Cerro (also known as Gran Stadium) in Havana. The stadium is still there. In 1959, they won the Junior World Series. They moved in the middle of the 1960 season due to the Cuban Revolution. Their remaining home games for that season were played in Jersey City, New Jersey's Roosevelt Stadium. In 1961, they became the Jersey City Jerseys and lasted only one more season. IN 1962 they were sold and moved to Jacksonville, where they became the first iteration of the Jacksonville Suns. In 1969, the became the Tidewater Tides
