Colortown USA

CINC-17970-S

Cincinnati was named "Colortown U.S.A." in 1962 because of Ruth Lyons' promotion of local and NBC's "in living color" programs along with Channel 5's color telecasts of Reds games and the weekly "Midwestern Hayride" country show Cincinnati had more color television sets per capita than any other city in the country at the time.

Inspired by Episode 2 of our Cincy Shirts podcast with John Kiesewetter. You can listen to our entire series and subscribe for new weekly episodes here.
