The Florence Y'alls were established as the Erie (PA) Sailors in 1994, members of the independent Frontier League. A year later they moved to Johnstown, PA to become the Steal. From 1998 on they were known as the Johnnies. In 2002, the team moved to Florence and was renamed the Freedom. In 2020, the became known as the Y'Alls, taking their new name from the famous water tower up the road.
