The Stingers were Cincinnati's only major league hockey team. Playing at Riverfront Coliseum (now Heritage Bank Center), they were members of the World Hockey Association (WHA)…from 1975 to 1979.When that league merged with the National Hockey League in 1979, the Stingers, as well as the Birmingham Bulls, were left out in the cold. The Stingers went on to play one season in the Central Hockey League before folding in 1980. READ MORE about the Stingers.
