Playing their home games at Riverfront Coliseum (now U.S. Bank Arena). The Stingers were Cincinnati's only major-league ice hockey team playing from 1975 to 1980. For most of that time they played in the World Hockey Association (WHA). When that league merged with the National Hockey League in 1979, the Stingers, as well as the Birmingham Bulls, were left out in the cold. The team joined the Central Hockey League that autumn but folded 33 games into the season.
