Harry Wright - C.F. Payne Collection

Born in Sheffield, England in 1835  to famous cricket player, Harry Wright's game became baseball as a young man living in New York City. In 1865, he moved to Cincinnati and became the manager of the first ever professional baseball team when the Reds became the first such club in 1869. He was elected to the Baseball hall of Fame in 1952.
